Having soft, beautiful hands is an under-appreciated asset. Supple, well-cared for hands can make a great first impression during a handshake. In my own quest to beautify and care for my hands, I have tried quite a few hand creams. I have found a few favorites which will always be in the rotation, like Weleda Skin Food . Now, I have a newcomer to add to the shortlist: Nécessaire The Hand Cream.
Nécessaire Hand Cream
This hand cream is definitely a chic addition to your nightstand/handbag/general lifestyle. Unscented for my peeps with sensitivities. Rich without being too heavy.
Nécessaire The Hand Cream
Arriving in a minimalist-chic neutral-toned box, the aluminum tubing was familiar enough as far as hand creams go. I normally prefer a heavier, richer hand cream like Chanel’s La Crème Main, so I was a bit suspicious after applying the much lighter-weight Nécessaire to my hands. After rubbing in the cream, all of my reservations vanished. Despite the lighter formula, the cream instantly made my hands softer without imparting any extra oils. My skin emitted a very faint glow, and there was no residual stickiness.
This hand cream relies on more than just good-looking packaging. It is packed with peptides and vitamins to make your hands look great in the moment and improve their appearance over time. Nécessaire formulates all of its products by avoiding ingredients it considers unsafe such as parabens, formaldehyde, and drying alcohols.
I normally like a scented hand cream and so far, I haven’t encountered anything that tops Skin Food’s intoxicating botanical scent. This hand cream is unscented, which at first I found underwhelming. Later, I decided that it is nice to have a product that is not competing with all of the other scented products I use, like my perfume, deodorant, and body lotion.
At $20, it is affordably priced while delivering luxury brand-esque results. I find that the aluminum tube hand creams tend to get a bit beat up after long term use (and goodness knows it can be a struggle to get those last bits of product out), but that is an issue for another day.
