The Well NYC
During my most recent trip up to NYC, I finally had a chance to stop by The Well, a holistic wellness center a few blocks north of Washington Square Park. From my newly-established home base in Miami, I now have somewhat of an outsider’s view of my beloved former home. That storied NYC energy can be envigorating, but can also leave you feeling incredibly run down.
Its unique energetic signature is one of the things that makes The Well stand out. I’ve had the privilege of visiting many of the best wellness spots and spas in the city, and rarely have I felt truly transported the way I did when I stepped into The Well. There’s a lot of talk of “vibes” nowadays, with many places going so far as to have crystals embedded in the floors. This place has a truly great vibe.
Staycation
While living in NYC, I had the luxury of making a 6-figure salary, but I didn’t quite have the disposable income to jaunt up to Connecticut or Hudson Valley on the weekends. Was it really lack the funds, or the seductive allure of yet another fun brunch with friends, or a night out at my favorite bars that keep me in the city on weekends?
I relied on places like The Well to spend a few hours de-stressing and unwinding. Places to get away from the noise and the bustle of the city to recharge and prepare for the next round of tasks and events. And while some of those places had great masseuses or lovely steam rooms, there were only a handful of places where I truly felt relaxed (a favorable example worth noting: the spa at the Greenwich Hotel).
During my visit, I met a colleague for breakfast to discuss wellness programming. She couldn’t get over how much she loved the calming vibe, as well. Further confirmation that you don’t need to be a self-professed empath to pick up on what makes The Well special.
I could dissect it, point out the thoughtful architecture or the lovely employees (who offered me a tour and encouraged me to take pictures without me even having to ask) or the bougie bona fides like partnering with cult skincare fave Biologique Recherce. But there really is something more, something I can’t quite put a finger on.
More Locations
While I didn’t have a chance to book a spa service, that just means I have all the more reason to go back. With new locations popping up from Connecticut to Costa Rica (including a recently-announced location in Bal Harbour), it may not even require a flight.
