Quarantine Wellness: Reiki and Meditation

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that quarantine has been a rough experience. Not only have we had many new stressors introduced into our lives, but many of us have felt cut off from the communities and resources that kept us feeling happy and balanced. I started this quarantine wellness interview series because I wanted to speak with leaders in the wellness industry on how they have been adapting to the challenges presented during these times, both in terms of serving their clients and themselves.

My first interview is with Melissa Richards (@melissarchrds). Melissa creates content for many notable beauty and wellness brands and is also a reiki practitioner and yogi. I met Melissa through the Sakara Circle, a community of influencers in the wellness space that promote Sakara Life’s plant-based meal delivery service and Clean Boutique products.

This series focuses on wellness activities that can be performed in the home. Melissa and I discussed reiki and how she uses it as a self-healing modality. Reiki is a method of energy healing established in Japan during the early 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui. In the video, she takes us through a quick self-guided reiki exercise. We also discussed different meditation techniques.
