Welcome to your definitive Miami wellness guide. When you think of Miami, you probably think of partying until the sun comes up. This is not a wholly inaccurate depiction. Miami definitely knows how to get down. However, there are also incredible options for the wellness-oriented (and the detox-to-retox crowd). It’s called balance, people.
RESTAURANTS
Planta (Upscale – South Beach)
Planta serves up delicious, Insta-ready plant based dishes. Great for a night out on the town without compromising on flavor or quality (because being plant based while dining upscale can be a bit tricky).
Dr. Smood (Casual – Sunset Harbor, Wynwood & Brickell)
Billed as “The healthiest cafe in Miami”, Dr. Smood serves up organic, gluten free, high protein food sure to please a variety of palates. My favorite menu item is the vegan sandwich, though I also love the newly-reintroduced jackfruit sandwich. Feeling experimental? Splurge and try the Hot Virgin Cacao drink with Resveritrol for $20.
Manna Life Food (Casual – South Beach)
Truly manna from heaven! A great local cafe serving vegan and gluten free smoothies, bowls and more. Supe up your smoothies with a variety of superfood add ons such as spirulina, chlorella and cacao.
Sun Life Organics (Casual – South Beach)
Originally founded in California, Sun Life Organics recently opened a Miami Beach outpost. The menu is replete with classic fan-favorite smoothies. Wellness junkies will be impressed by hard-to-find ingredients like colostrum.
The Cocinita Miami (Casual – Brickell)
A must-visit for vegan food with Miami flair. Voted one of the top 10 vegan restaurants in the USA by PETA in 2020. Choose lighter fare like açai bowls or opt for something decadent like a burger with fries. Especially noteworthy is the Cocinita Arepa: an organic flax, chia, moringa and whole grain corn flour arepa filled with “chorizo,” baked plantain, avocado and Cocinita sauce.
HOTELS/SOCIAL CLUBS
1 Hotel (South Beach)
Open to hotel guests and non-guests alike, 1 Hotel hosts a number of fun wellness and spirituality-themed events each month in partnership with Kanekshun. Enjoy the sultry ocean breeze as you dance in the moonlight during a Full Moon Sound Bath (or one of the many other great event options).
Faena (Mid Beach)
Faena specializes in a number of wellness treatments sure to impress even the pickiest jet-set bohemian. Their Tierra Santa Healing House is home to one of the largest hammams on the East Coast. Book a body treatment developed by a shaman and follow up with a Biologique Recherche facial. Chakra harmonization is available as an add on service.
Sera Sera Social Club (North Miami)
One of Miami’s newest wellness offerings, Sera Sera Social Club is a residential home-turned-event space nestled amongst lush tropical foliage. A rotating cast of local artisans and healers take turns hosting events at this unique venue.
FITNESS
Body Roll Studio (Sunset Harbor, Midtown Miami)
Body rolling has become one of my personal favorites. I recommend checking out the studio at Sunset Harbor, which features a greater number rollers and close proximity to other fitness studios and wellness shops in the neighborhood. Also, the studios occasionally host wellness events hosted by local practitioners (ex: mandala design).
Ahana Yoga Studio (Design District)
Move through your flow accompanied by live music. Bonus: get your luxury shopping done right around the corner in Miami’s Design District after class.
Bünda Miami (Coral Gables)
This recently-opened Los Angeles export promises to provide what every self-respecting Miamian craves: a perky, round peach. Famous for being the first studio fitness class to incorporate every Insta-baddie’s favorite gym machine: the stairmaster.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Coconut Grove Organic Farmer’s Market
Shop vegan and organic goodies under the shade of gorgeous, expansive trees in Coconut Grove. Make sure you try the vegan crunchwrap from JDs VegMex.

South Beach
Everyone in Miami has their favorite beach, but you can’t beat South Beach for the amenities and the people-watching. Set up on the beach with your own towels and healthy snacks, or snag a chair at W Hotel which rents chairs by the day (including food and beverage service). Their veggie burger is a great option.
For a more chill vibe, check out Crandon Park Beach in Key Biscayne. Come to see the peacocks roaming the grounds and to lie in the shade of a coconut tree. On weekends, you can purchase a fresh coconut from park workers for $5.
Walk around Brickell Key
Last but not least. Also local favorite. Getting those 10k steps in has never been more scenic. Do a few laps while checking out the super yachts sailing in adjacent Biscayne Bay. Reward yourself with a treat from one of the food trucks right across the river at Brickell Soul. I highly recommend Raccoon Coffee.
In summary: yes, you can party yourself silly here. But Miami is no slouch in the wellness department, either! Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments!
