Why BE by La Vie de Zee?
“BE” is short for “bien-être,” which means wellbeing in French. “La Vie de Zee” is the brand up on which the guides were built: a play on my nickname “Zee” and the original blog spot blog which bore its name—one which featured posts from my study abroad stint in Paris, France. The name is both a play on the Francophile roots of La Vie de Zee as well as a gentle reminder to prioritize your holistic health.
Create a Culture Around Wellness, Not Just Habits
When I started La Vie de Zee back in 2020, I was looking to make major changes to my health after a serious medical scare and subsequent hospital stay. I knew that simply joining a gym wasn’t going to do the trick; I needed a complete habit overhaul—changing the way that I thought, ate, moved, and even saw the world.
The reason so many people struggle is that they try to make changes in a vacuum, without adequate support, community, and education to achieve significant results over time. A few years later, with 80 pounds down and now a certified Pilates instructor, I can directly attribute much of my success to “being in the room”—connecting myself with people, places, and things that were already aligned with practices surrounding health and wellbeing.
